Kicking with no reason and no sounds

I have a serious problem with ltktbm 1.7 I want to play with my brother on LAN network but I can't becouse when I start my lan server and my bro joins it kicks him and says: "upgrade your client"
WTF? Why we both have 1.7 installed on our computers. We can play on 1.8 but it doesn't play shotgun/hand cannon/mp5 fire sounds. Please help me!!

i think SCI (secure client identification) is enabled by default. when starting your server, turn it off. that should help..

through the menus.. when you go to start a new game. there should be some options you can toggle.

I'd go with slacker on this one, its on the machine running the server, and is either in one of the menus or you can do:
